I get asked this all the time, so here is my honest little day, start to finish. Not a perfect, polished version, just what really happens in my kitchen. I love food and I love feeling good, so the way I eat is just me keeping both of those happy at once. No banned foods, no guilt. If I am honest, I quite like the routine of it. I love knowing what I am making and I love cooking from scratch. It never feels like a chore. It feels like a way of being kind to myself.

Most of it begins right here, with a happy little food shop and picking out all the fresh things I fancy that week. I am a real homebody, and pottering round choosing my fruit and veg is honestly one of my favourite resets.

My slow mornings

I love a slow, unhurried morning and I really protect it. No rushing allowed. The first thing I always have is hot water with lemon, before coffee, before anything. Then a big glass of water, and a cosy coffee a little later once I am properly awake. One or two is plenty for me, and I sip water and herbal teas all day to stay topped up.

I am never in a rush to eat either. My first little meal is usually quite late, mostly because I am straight into work and just not that hungry first thing. It suits me, so I go with it.

My first bite of the day

When I do eat, it is nearly always a smoothie. Sweet, fresh, and the easiest way to get my fruit in without thinking too hard.

After that I nibble through the day if I want to. Fresh fruit is my favourite, whatever is in the bowl. A few squares of dark chocolate is my non negotiable, I will always make room for it. If I want something savoury I love a bit of veg and hummus. I will have a few nuts here and there too, though they are so sneaky and calorific that I keep a gentle eye on them.

My favourite meal

This barely changes, because I love it just the way it is. A good protein, usually chicken or beef, lots of lovely green veg, and then sweet potato, rice, or white potato. And I have to be honest with you, I love mash. It is my one little weakness in the whole world and it wins far more often than it should. I have completely made peace with that.

I always pop some music on while I cook. That is my favourite wind-down, just me in the kitchen with a few tunes, happily making my dinner. A little pocket of calm in a busy day.

A normal day for me

People imagine it is all glamour, but most of my days are quietly spent planning content. Shooting, editing, sorting posts, answering messages. It is a real job, and a lot of it is just me at home, cosy, working through my little list and eating around it.

Shoot days

Shoot days have their own sweet little rhythm. The day before, I eat lighter and cleaner and drink lots of water, nothing heavy, so I feel my best on camera.

On the morning itself I barely eat until we are finished. Just coffee and water while I do my hair and makeup, then I crack on. I am not strict about it for any dramatic reason, I simply feel better on a light tummy and I would rather enjoy my food once we are done.

And afterwards I am always so hungry. A finished shoot earns a lovely big meal and I dive straight in, no guilt at all. I have done a full day and I want something delicious in front of me.

My one cheat meal

Saturday is my one little cheat meal, and I want to be clear what that actually means, because people get it so wrong. It is one meal I would not normally have, with a sweet dessert to finish. That is it. It is not a whole tub of ice cream and a packet of biscuits on the side. That is not a treat, that is undoing your whole lovely week in one go. One happy meal you really enjoy, then back to normal. That balance is the whole secret.

Winding down

In the evening I have my dinner and round the night off with a couple of squares of dark chocolate. That tiny bit of sweetness is my full stop on the day. A herbal tea, a little chocolate, and I am content. Nothing complicated.

And that is my day. Nothing extreme, nothing miserable, just fresh food I love, a routine that fits my life, and one lovely meal at the weekend to look forward to. Be sweet to yourself and still enjoy your food. The two were never meant to be enemies. 🤍
